We went there in march was freezing but very sunny and lovely loved the architecture, people, all the tourist attractions we have seen and overall atmoshere of the city.
We started on friday pm arriving via the train from midway to our hotel right outside the loop on ohio st, the doubletree. There was a flat screen tv on the wall that swivelled, the bath was adequate, small, the bed was very comfortable, new, with wonderful hotel sheets.
The towels were brand new and shed quite a bit but we were impressed with the full breakfast that was included with the room. A chef was there each am to fix waffles and make sure you did not need anything else. Nice selection saturday night we went to the red head piano bar for drinks and music.
We did not know that much about his style but now we are fans. Monday am we went to the architecture society for a historical skyscrapper tour. We did not know claims to be the inventor of skyscrappers. It is easily to get to and get around with the train and walking. We found reasonably inexpensive things to do and moderate accommadations with great access.
We loved our long weekend trip and hope to return. We just got back from our first trip and we love that city. We had such a good time and found the people very friendly. Plenty to see and do for all ages. The people are friendly and helpful wherever you go.
The shopping is excellent everywhere, especially at the sales season. The cultural centre is a beautiful building, very relaxed and casual and features not one, but two tiffany domes that cannot be missed. The history museum is splendid, as well as the spertus jewish museum, and i loved the institute of art as well.

With much help from a couple native on this forum and a few information websites, we planned and managed to pull off a wonderful thanksgiving trip to the windy city.
